Asolo

Asolo instead is located just 15 kms from Bassano del Grappa. A very, very nice little town indeed which dates back some 30,000-35,000 years! Asolo was also once under the domain of the Ancient Romans. Even Napoleon Bonaparte slept for just one night in Asolo on March 11, 1797. During WWI instead it was just a short distance from the front itself.

The day we went was on a nice warm fall Sunday, the very same day AFTER good’ol Silvio Berlusconi handed in his resignation to the President of the Republic on November 12, 2011. It seemed like everyone was in a good mood, with even chestnuts roasting on the fire!

Bassano del Grappa

A nice little day trip to the medieval town of Bassano del Grappa, located just 2 hours by car from Udine.

For four centuries Venice maintained peace and prosperity on the region. The area is also home to many of Andrea Palladio’s famous villas. He was the one that designed the “Ponte degli Alpini”. The town also underwent the invasion of the Germans during WWII.
